Privacy Policy

Seedling is a writing practice app. This page describes what it collects, why it needs each piece, and how to have it removed. It is written to match what the software actually does.
The short version
- You can use Seedling without giving us a name or an email address.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing.
- Your practice history exists so your progress survives a lost phone.
What we collect
Your account
When you first open the app, we create an anonymous account for you. It holds no name, no email address, and no password. It exists so your progress has somewhere to live.
If you later choose Sign in with Apple, we receive and store the name and email address Apple releases to us. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple generates, never your real one. Signing in is optional and only needed to carry progress to a new device.
Your practice
- Which exercises you were shown, what you answered, and whether it was correct.
- How long you took to answer, which is used to tune exercise difficulty.
- Your per-skill mastery levels, your Writing Score, and its history over time.
- Any report you file about an exercise being wrong or unclear, including your comment.
Settings
Your time zone and your chosen daily reminder time, so a reminder set for 8:00 arrives at 8:00 where you are.
Technical records
Each sign-in creates a session record holding the IP address and device user agent the request came from. This is ordinary security housekeeping and lets us recognize a stolen session. Sessions expire on their own.
What we do not collect
There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party tracker in the app. We do not collect your contacts, your location, your photos, your microphone, or anything you write outside of a Seedling exercise. Seedling does not track you across other apps or websites.
Where it is stored
On servers we operate in Amazon Web Services in the United States. Backups are encrypted, kept in the same account, and expire automatically. Nothing is copied to a third-party data warehouse.
Who else sees it
Apple, when you use Sign in with Apple, under Apple's own privacy policy. Amazon Web Services, as the company hosting the servers. Nobody else. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing.
Getting your data deleted
Email support@justseedling.com from the address on your account, or from any address if you tell us enough to identify the account, and we will delete it along with your entire practice history. We will confirm when it is done. You can ask for a copy of your data the same way.
Deleting your account removes your answers, mastery levels, score history, and settings. Encrypted backups age out on their own schedule, within roughly a week for database dumps and four days for volume snapshots.
Children
Seedling is built for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app.
